FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where is your home diamond?
Our home diamond is located in St. Marys at the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. Most of our regular season home games and practices are held at this location.
Where is your offseason training?
Our offseason training takes place from November to April and is held at Blue Chip Sports in Kitchener.
Where does other league play take place?
As proud members of the Canadian Premier Baseball League (CPBL), our league play sees our teams travelling throughout Ontario for away games. For a map of diamonds where CPBL league play takes place, visit our fields map.
Do you travel to the US?
In addition to our participation in tournaments in the US during our regular season (May to August, 1-2 US tournaments per team), our players have the opportunity to participate in several optional trips. These include a Spring Training trip to Florida in March, a late summer training trip to Georgia in August, and a Fall US College Tour tailored for our senior players who are interested in pursuing collegiate baseball opportunities in the US.
AT WHAT AGE GROUPS DO YOU FIELD TEAMS?
Our teams cover all divisions of the CPBL, ranging from 14U to 18U. To determine team eligibility, we abide by the birthdate guidelines specified in the CPBL bylaws. These rules establish a specific age range between May 1st and April 30th of each calendar year. For instance, in the upcoming 2023-2024 season, players eligible for our 14U team must have been born between May 1, 2009, and April 30, 2010. However, in exceptional circumstances, we may occasionally include players who are younger and born after April 30th of the same calendar year.
Do you have any programs for younger players?
For athletes who are not quite old enough to join our competitive teams, we are pleased to offer the Junior Nats offseason training program. This program provides an opportunity for 10- to 13-year-old players to work with our experienced coaches during the offseason to refine their baseball skills. The program runs from November to April at Blue Chip Sports in Kitchener. For more information on our Junior Nats program, or to register, please click here.
What does a typical year playing for the Nationals look like?
Our program operates on a structured calendar, commencing shortly after Labour Day with our Fall Ball season held in September and October. Following the Fall Ball season, we transition into a dedicated period of offseason training, spanning from November to April. The heart of our competitive activities unfolds during the regular league and tournament play, which takes place from May through late July or early August. For a comprehensive overview of our program, please refer to our detailed Program Overview.
How do I try out?
Our team recruitment process begins between January or February each year. Interested players are required to complete our comprehensive recruiting form, which includes submitting video highlights of their skills. The submitted materials are reviewed by our experienced recruiting team. If a player meets the necessary criteria and there is an available spot on the roster for their respective age group, our recruiting team will contact the player's parent or guardian to discuss the next steps. Due to the high rate of player retention within our program, the number of openings for each age group from 15U onwards is limited. As such, we typically do not conduct open tryouts.
